A Special Evening of Networking for Artists and Arts Lovers
The Waukegan Arts Council invites you to join us for “The Arts Revolution Evolution” on June 6, 2013 6 – 8 p.m. at Clockwise Theatre, 221 N. Genesee St., Waukegan, IL.
We are fortunate to have accomplished artist, David Dallison who will interview Skip Wiese, Maggie Kraus and Liz Misunas about the evolution and revolution of the art scene in Waukegan and their own contributions as working artists.
These three longtime artists have so much to contribute by sharing their success stories as local, working artists. David Motley, Director of Public Relations and Marketing for the City of Waukegan recently said, “I consider Skip a pioneer of the Waukegan Arts movement…” “Skip is also the link from the past to the future in the arts in Waukegan,” stated Theodora Anderson, Manager of Community Relations, Waukegan Park District in a recent interview about Skip’s contributions to the arts movement in Waukegan. Maggie Kraus is an esteemed artist who works in many mediums, and has her work on display not only locally at the Undercroft Gallery, nationally, but also in international collections. Liz Misunas is a veteran watercolorist, fashion designer and seamstress who has been active in the Waukegan Arts movement and organizations for over 60 years. She, like Skip, ran a gallery in downtown Waukegan for many years.
In addition, you’ll have a chance to view work and meet the new artists from Karcher ArtSpace Lofts who are carrying on the tradition. ArtSpace has now renovated the historic Karcher hotel to create 36 units of affordable live/work space for artists and their families, plus ground-floor retail and community space for arts-friendly businesses and nonprofit organizations. “Each generation builds for generations to come with each new arts movement in Waukegan,“ explains Claudia Freeman, Superintendent of Cultural Arts, Waukegan Park District.
Complimentary refreshments will be served. Attendance is free for Waukegan Arts Council members and ArtSpace artists. For non-members the $10 fee can be applied toward membership.
